Within the WiMER Uno free app provided by Motionics, you can now have it read out each measurement as it is being recorded in real-time. This voice feature allows you to speed up or slow down the rate in which the measurements are read and it also has 10 different language options.

This video shows the voice application in use.

This feature was developed based on a request received from one of Motionics customers who’s workers were visually impaired. Now as they are working they can hear the measurement and place statistically significant parts to the side creating a more streamline process.

Motionics is willing and able to modify their products to fit your companies needs, all you need to do is reach out.

MultiGage Reader for WiMER and BlueDial to Wirelessly Collect Readings

By using Motionics WiMER and BlueDial hardware products that wirelessly collect readings, you will be making displacement measurements simple and more efficient.

screen-shot-2016-11-01-at-3-24-36-pmThe MultiGage Reader app contains the same functions as the DialRead app but now allows users to be able to connect up to 15 WiMER or BlueDial hardware and receive reading from all of them at the same time.

Each device will be assigned with an individual panel to display measurement reading, device rotating angle, max, min TIR and average value. The image below provides an exact model.

For data recording, MultiGage Reader provides two options: continuous recording or single recording. Continuous recording is capable of up to 10 samples/sec while the single recording takes place by tapping a button. This data can then be plotted in a user interaction enabled graphs or exported in a CSV file via email for further assessment.

The new update for MultiGage Reader iPad version provides analog dial view. This means users can see not only the digital reading values, but also analog dial faces with needle spinning, just like the traditional dial indicator. A TIR indicator bar next to the dial face offers a quick glance at the current TIR value compared to preset threshold with changing length and color. This tool is very convenient for GO/NG judgement.

In conclusion this new smart device app, MultiGage, allows for a simpler and more efficient way to wirelessly collect readings using Motionics hardware products.

NEW: WiMER Uno for Mitutoyo Instruments

Motionics newest product WiMER Uno is a data collector and WIRELESS transmitter for Mitutoyo digital instruments that don’t usually require continuous data streaming, for example calipers, micrometers, and so on.

The true benefit of this product is that it is WIRELESS, allowing you to work quicker and more efficiently by not having to record every measurement by hand. WiMER Uno can be connected to a hand switch or a foot switch and will not WIRELESSLY transfer data until the switch is triggered. Once WiMER Uno reads a value from the connected gage, it will WIRELESSLY send this reading to iOS/Android/Windows devices via Bluetooth Low Energy. Note: There is no receiver needed for iOS/Android mobile devices. A miniature USB dongle is required for PC communication.

NEW: Wireless Rotor Runout Kit Available from Motionics

Motionics has created the newest wireless angle sensor BlueAngle and included it in this Wireless Rotor Runout Kit. Combining Bluetooth dial indicator BlueDial and the iPad application Runout, users can seamlessly measure both circumference and rotating angles and easily inspect rotor runout on iPad.

runout

BlueAngle can be attached to the end face or the circumference of a rotor with its magnetic base. While the rotor rotates, BlueAngle also rotates with it and continuously measures the rotating angle. At the same time, BlueDial can be set to measure at the edge of the rotating plane. Both sensors transmit data wirelessly to iPad. In the Runout app, displacement measurements from BlueDial and rotating angle readings from BlueAngle are matched to depict the real contour of the rotor in test. To better visualize collected data, we embed a probe meter for BlueDial readings. Users can freely set the range of the probe meter to achieve different display resolution. An analog needle rotates while BlueDial reading changes. Two limit bars stay at maximum reading and minimum reading for quick reference. For BlueAngle, a rotating arrow follows the value of BlueAngle, indicating the angular position of the rotor.

Two Working Modes:

  • Continuous Mode
    • In continuous mode, readings are constantly recorded while the rotor rotates. A real-time plot provides a quick view of the shape of the rotor. Once data collection is finished, users have the options to plot in cartesian coordinate (dial readings vs time or dial readings vs angle) or create a polar plot.

  • Point Mode
    • A common scenario in runout test is to only test at certain points on the circumference. Point Mode of Runout app is designed for this application. With our wireless runout kit, instead of marking all testing points, stopping at each of them and writing down values, the Runout app itself automatically triggers data recording once BlueAngle reaches the preset angular position. In the end of each test, values and locations of maximum/minimum readings are summarized in the result table.

Introducing BlueDial, our new Bluetooth Dial Indicator

May 29, 2015

You probably have heard about our WiMER 1. It connects to almost all Mitutoyo digital instruments with SPC output through a short SPC to micro USB cable and sends data wirelessly to iPhone/iPad. It is cool, isn’t it? But we know there are still users who only need to read a dial indicator and want to get rid of any cable regardless of how short it is. For this part of users, we have a new alternative. That is BlueDial, the bluetooth dial indicator.

BlueDial is based on a Mitutoyo digimatic dial indicator. Seen from the front side, you won’t find anything different from a normal Mitutoyo dial indicator. That also means BlueDial maintains all the benefits from the high precision expert Mitutoyo: absolute measurement, high resolution, high accuracy and high quality build.

What distinguishes BlueDial from regular dial indicators is on the back. We embed a bluetooth low energy transmitter in the less than 15mm back cap, enabling the dial to wirelessly send readings to iPhone/iPad. Users can expect a continuous data stream with the rate of 10 samples per second from a distance of up to 10 meters away from the dial.

You may worry about wireless transmission draining the battery in BlueDial too quickly. Actually it is not necessary, because we have individual power supplies and switch controls for dial measurement and data transmission. With the separate switch control, you have the option to turn off the wireless data transmission and use BlueDial as a regular dial indicator. The measurement part is powered by one SR44 coin battery, which will last for about 20000 hours. While the wireless transmission part is equipped with a 400mAh rechargeable battery, that is enough for 30 hours of usage. BlueDial has a standard micro USB port at side, so you can basically use any normal USB charger like your phone charger to charge it.

Another cool thing about BlueDial is, it has a built-in inclinometer allowing users to have access to the tilt angles of BlueDial when it is in use. With such angle information, when BlueDial is used for taking measurements at certain angular positions along a circle, for example in crankshaft deflection test or shaft alignment test, our iOS App can accurately and automatically record BlueDial readings at desired positions.

BlueDial is compatible with all Apps we developed for WiMER, DialRead and DialFace on iPhone, DialReadPad and DialReadRotary on iPad. They bring features such as wireless data reading and recording, real-time data plot, analog dial faces, analog health indicator, PDF report generation, database saving, etc. We are also working on new Apps to apply BlueDial to a more specific engineering task like shaft alignment or crankshaft deflection detection. With our ever growing engineering App collection, more features will be delivered to users to make BlueDial more powerful and let displacement measurement be simpler than ever.
